Advent Week 2 - Glory

Baruch 5:1 & 45:1 Take off the garment of your sorrow and affliction, O Jerusalem, and put on forever the beauty of the glory from God. . . .5:4 For God will give you evermore the name, "Righteous Peace, Godly Glory."

Baruch is a book that is in the Catholic Bible but in the Apocrypha section of the Protestant Bible. The person, Baruch was the prophet Jeremiah’s scribe. Jeremiah prophesied in the 6th century BC in the time immediately before and after the defeat of Judah by the Babylonians. Leading up to the defeat, Jeremiah called the people of Judah to repentance, begging them to change the way they treated the poor and vulnerable. Jeremiah 22:3 says 3 The LORD proclaims: Do what is just and right; rescue the oppressed from the power of the oppressor. Don’t exploit or mistreat the refugee, the orphan, and the widow. Jeremiah warned them that if they did not change their behavior they would suffer disaster!
